Sensei Mariant has been training for the past 24 years. As a competitor, she represented her native country of Venezuela, where she competed as both a youth and adult. In 1992, she won double gold in both kata and kumite at Sensei Yamazaki's International Ryobukai Championships. Since moving to Chicago, Sensei Mariant has continued her training and competing in karate and is now a member of the USA-NKF.
